american Literature:
Today's class is simple. It's about the power of a
good book. If you love to read, and even if you don't, it's likely at some
point in your life that an author or character in a book influenced you.
Maybe Frodo and Sam reminded you how much you
love your best friend.
Perhaps Atticus inspired you to stand up for
something that you believe in, even if it wasn't popular.
Perhaps Bridget Jones made you laugh and give
yourself a little grace.
Did Katniss remind you what it is you believe
about entertainment?
I bet Ichabod Crane sent chills up your spine!
And Mr. Darcy.... how many men now have to
live up to his standard?! ;)
Today's challenge is to reference a character,
book, or author on a layout. You don't have to even make the layout about that
book necessarily (although you can), but you need to reference it in some way.
A small part of the internet to view my scrapbooking creations...includes free svg files and mtc files as well as my pages that I've scrapped.

Class Assignment:
Good morning students!
Are we ready for class?
Pick up those scrap supplies & let's get going!
You will need the following for this class:
-old music paper (or if you don't have any - something you downloaded from the internet, vintage...whatever, I'm easy)
-paint
-lyrics to your favorite song
-either a single photo in 4x6 or 2 wallet sized photo's that is in reference to your favorite song.
-ruler
-favorite journaling pen
Are we ready to begin? Ok, let's go!
Today I want you to learn how to be comfortable with music. Think and reflect on a song that reminds you of something.
It could be anything. Your life right now, something from the past, a photo, whatever. I'm leaving that part up to you.
We're going to scrapbook using lyrics from that song. You as students are going to fall in love with that favorite song all over again by using the lyrics as your journaling.

This week's sytycs we had to use a sketch, primary colors, hand stitching, misting and fussy cutting. Photo is of Bryan in 5th grade when he presented his school project on Neil Armstrong. He was smart enough to think to use Mark's motorcycle helmet for a space suit helmet. We cut vinyl letters and attached them (and after presented...removed, Mark didn't want to ride with NASA on his helmet...can't imagine why)
Here is the original challenge: colorfulcreations

Here is my SYAO week 55, which was to follow the CSI blog challenge.
So I used the scheme of all 5 colors, for evidence I used: jagged edges for the photo mat, vellum, wood letters and twine and for the testimony, I put it under the piece of vellum, and I used the composite sketch. I am enjoying these challenges and this is the last of our cruise trip from April 2012. A complete 2 albums done for this trip. :)

I double-dipped challenges for this layout.
First I did my C, from the abc challenge on Scrappiestdisneyswaps by using chevron paper.
I then used the sketch and challenge from colorful creations for the sytycs week 5 challenge. I used the sketch, distressed all paper with Tim's distress ink, tore the left side of the patterned paper, and recycled a punch from a package of scrapping stuff I bought for the date tab.

why is it upside down...I have no clue. It is right on my computer screen...well...unless I can figure it out...it will remain upside down.
I double dipped this challenge.
First one is for ACOT Cherryland challenge where I used 2 pieces of paper, 0 computer generated journalling (hand journalling was permitted), 1 photo and 3 embellishments (bling, star brads and ric rack)
Then since the photo was of my son, and I used lots of blue, it also qualified for Colorful Creations For the boys challenge. Here I had to use 1 masculine photo (my son), 3 brads, stars and lots of blue.
The sketch itself I've had in my stash of sketches for a long time, not sure where I originally got it from, but here it is:

So here is my week 2 of the colorful creations so you think you can scrap challenge. Journalling reads: "18 years ago today I said I will to the most wonderful man. For 18 years you have gotten me roses to remind me how much you do love me." Believe me, I love you right back. These were the flowers from 2012.
For the challenge: I used ribbon, chipboard, pin, layers and flowers

This was a double-dipped challenge.
First was my ABC for Scrappiestdisneyswaps A = Animal or Animal themed. The challenge didn't state that animal had to be real...so I used the towel monkey from our cruise. I'm told by the kids that he was holding a real banana, and they ate it...so I took their word on it...documented it that way too. The elements were all from a swap on my group Swaps_that_work. (link on the right side if you want to join). I made the topper and the banana...others in the group made the photomat and the journal box.
The second challenge was Twisted Blueprint from Colorful Creations. Here is the original on that one:

here's the twist use metal & stickles!
So in case my layout photo isn't clear...the metal is the sign (I used a rubon onto a metal tag that I had in my stash, some of it didn't rub-on as well as I wanted, but it works) and the stickles used is crystal as the centers for the 3 flowers, the 4th flower has a rhinestone.

A challenge I did for Colorful creations. This is an older photo of my niece and nephew from a holiday card from 2005. The challenge For Girls Only challenge would be to pull out old photo's and get them scrapped. The only rule is that there has to be a girl in the photo. Since we all know I have boys...I turned to the pile of holiday card photos that were just too cute to toss...so now it is on a page and will be put into the album to be cherished by all.

Here is this weeks SYAO challenge. I used a 12x6 photo, which was not an easy task to get printed.
For products I used: twine, TH film strip, 5 different washi tapes, paint and chevron paper. I also stamped my stitches and distressed the chevron paper.

A double dip while cleaning up. :) I found this photo of Mark and his co-workers on my desk left over from the layout that I had to do for him back in June. Anyway...instead of tossing it, I decided to scrap it. The kids one day will look thru the album and get a chuckle of daddy and the bus.
I also utilized two challenges for this one. ACOT die cut challenge as found here: http://www.acherryontop.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=246046&p=4514938#p4514938
