Homework assignment #3: So your assignment for today is to create a layout using a back to school or any school related photo. Here are some more ideas

This was probably my favorite event the school did.  They recreated Immigration Day for the kids.  They all dressed as their ancestors did when they came to America.  Pillowcases instead of suitcases.  They had the hallway in the school be the boat, and had the children do learning activities while they waited to enter the great hall (ok the gym) of Clark Mills School, where they went thru processing, answering questions about their heritage as they went from station to station.  After processing they sat and played cards and waited for their loved ones (classmates) to be processed.  As a group they promised to be a good American and then they celebrated with food brought in from their different heritages.  The day was long, but so glad I got to go and see my two participate in this wonderful event.

A page kit I bought on clearance for a different project, worked out for these photos.  the karate class was cut on my cricut (not part of the kit).  Photos are from 2010 of the boys at karate class.  First learning a new kata and then sparring.

My weekly FTS challenge:
I used distressing (on the edges of the decos, and over the embossed, I only used cardstock and I turned the layout into a 2-page spread

I also utilized a bazzill only swap that was done by Jo-Anne.  It worked out great for the rest of those photos of Michael and playing with my new camera.

Here is the original:

Use 1 or more: Stamping, distressing. Use 2 or more: cardstock only, paper piecing, twine, make it a 2 page layout

This week's challenge for FTS, I decided to scrap some photos from Superstorm Sandy.  While more towns in NJ suffered, Belmar is one the towns that touched home with me.  This is the beach I show in SOOO many of my summer layouts.  These photos are from Ocean Avenue...a paved road with parking on either side so it is nice and wide.  The pilings that remain are where the boardwalk once stood...but have no fear...we are NJ strong and rebuilding.
For the challenge: I used hidden journal (upper corner on right page held in with a footprint clip, I also used 3+buttons and rubbons (the today and the tomorrow)

Week 11
Week 11 I double dipped for this layout.  First is the FTS sketch for week 11 and the other is ACOT Manufacturer challenge.  Here is my take of the sketch:  For the challenge, I stitched and then used tags, journaling, ribbon and 5+ pattern paper...most of which was MY MINDS EYE...which was the manufacturer for Dec on ACOT challenge.

We were on this so often...but the boys only got to ride in the front one time. Bryan was even permitted to go near the drivers seat...but not aloud to sit in it.

Page is a swap I was in on Awesome, complete double spread layout. This particular one was very very plain, so I added all the hand-made cards I received this past christmas from fellow scrapers and it added some life to a layout.

One of our favorite rides in Disney. Must be, I have the most photos from it. Here are the 1st two pages for this ride.
I did the February challenge on Scrappiestdisneyswaps, the double page sketch. I also used some of my swap elements on it.

Shout outs to:

page 57 and 58: Bus Rodeo

Every year, Mark attends a Bus Rodeo, where the best of the best 100 drivers in the state compete for the who is the best! Mark came in 12th his first year, then was promoted to dispatcher (management) and couldn't compete anymore, so now he judges. He enjoys this day, even brings a camera to take photos...so I can scrap them. Spouces and children aren't invited to the event.

All items were from my stash.
