From our trip to California, we went to Magic Mountain, using our Great Adventure passes from NJ. The kids love the up side down rollercoasters...so I just take photos :) I pulled out an old swap kit I made for a swap, and it worked out perfect for the photos I had.

Well...guess what...we are back to the upside down layouts....GRRR they are correct on my screen, and then when I bring them into blogger they are upside down. Anyway a cloudy day at the beach is still better than no beach. Layout was prepped by Annette from a swap...

Here is my homework assignment #2:
I was never lucky enough to take wood shop in school, (if you did...I am JEALOUS!) but I love the look of wood grain in both paper and in embellishments. It just adds some warmth, or "cozy" to any LO in my opinion. So this class is all about using wood grain to the MAXIMUM. Here is your assignment for this class:
*Please do a LO of your size of choice, either single or double paged.
*Please use wood grain cardstock, patterned paper, or both if you have it.
*Please make sure you use as many additional wood grain stickers/borders as you deem appropriate.
*Please use as many real wood embellishments as you deem appropriate.
photos are of the boys in 2010 first day of camp!

Amazingly I got this weekly challenge done quickly. Photos are older, 2010 from when the boys had their 5th grade kickball day.
I used: dotted and stripped patterned paper, hand journalled and did the title by hand too, winged creature, border punch and another punch
Here is the original:

Here is my take for syao22...I used more photos instead of the circle embellishments.
I used 5+buttons, wood grain buttons, metal (the title), recycled a TH package from his ribbons, and twine. I distressed the twine with ink and I distressed the scallopped edge. I've always wanted to share this event in my books as we do it so often, and most people don't think in this day of age people use wood to heat their house...well we have an all electric huse and this was the cheaper method.

I triple-dipped this week on challenges:
1. Is my syao week 20...still going strong on this challenge. I'm so proud of myself. For that we were given a sketch and had to use 4 of 8 items listed (I used 5) and one technique (I used 2). So for the items used, I had 3 patterned papers, 5+ buttons, journal strips, metal (charms) and corrugated cardboard (my corners). For the technique: I used distressing, I inked the edges of everything including the photos this time (wanted to soften the edges) and then I tore the edges on my topper.
2. Second challenge was for scrappiestdisneyswaps the letter K to use keys on a layout. I came across a metal charm of 4 keys hanging from a ring...one for each of my planes in the photos :)
3. Third challenge was for http://granddivasscrappyplace.blogspot.com birthday challenge. This week she selected 5 of her favorite songs and we had to use the lyrics from one of them as either a title or journaling. I used the song Wind beneath my Wings...for my journaling.
The photos were from the Air, Space Museum in Chantilly, VA...from our DC vacation.

Being invited places as a family has its perks sometimes. We were able to take a break from the party inside and wonder outside on a beautiful day and enjoy the boats in the bay.
My week 18 in SYAO...I used: 3 patterned papers, 3+flowers, chipboard, bling and ribbon and then I punch the edge of one of the patterned papers for the technique portion.

My challenge for ACOT week 6. I haven't done all of the their challenges, only because I forget to look...silly me. Paper was a prize I won from scrappiestdisneyswaps on yahoo...and was just perfect for the boys getting their new house keys.
