Today's class is simple. It's about the power of a good book. If you love to read, and even if you don't, it's likely at some point in your life that an author or character in a book influenced you. 

Maybe Frodo and Sam reminded you how much you love your best friend. 

Perhaps Atticus inspired you to stand up for something that you believe in, even if it wasn't popular. 

Perhaps Bridget Jones made you laugh and give yourself a little grace. 

Did Katniss remind you what it is you believe about entertainment? 

I bet Ichabod Crane sent chills up your spine! 

And Mr. Darcy.... how many men now have to live up to his standard?! ;) 

Today's challenge is to reference a character, book, or author on a layout. You don't have to even make the layout about that book necessarily (although you can), but you need to reference it in some way.

Chemistry Homework: Alright students - grab your "chemicals" (mists) and let’s get creating!! 

You would need the following items for Chemistry class:

* cardstock
* mists
* various chipboard shapes or die-cut shapes (i.e. stars, butterflies, circles, flourishes, hearts, etc.)

Advanced Art Class: Okay, so my art today is actually not so advanced! Haha! 



Remember doing leaf rubbings in school? I wanted to take that concept and apply it to a layout! Gather a few leaves, some white printer paper, and a white crayon. (You could also do this with another resist method, like rubber cement or resist ink, but I wanted to go old school!) Lay the leaves under the paper, veins up so that they will give a nice impression. Rub the crayon all over them. 

Use some watercolors or use some mists with a paintbrush dipped in! Paint over the crayon and your image will start to appear!


Cut out the leaves. I love that they curl up just like real leaves!

Today I want you to learn how to be comfortable with music. Think and reflect on a song that reminds you of something.
It could be anything. Your life right now, something from the past, a photo, whatever. I'm leaving that part up to you.
We're going to scrapbook using lyrics from that song. You as students are going to fall in love with that favorite song all over again by using the lyrics as your journaling.

To think that a mere 100 years ago most people had never even ridden in a car is mind boggling, considering at this point in time we are all sitting in different areas of the world, having on online crafting challeng together on our personal computers. Anyway, I really want to use this class to capture a piece of the 20th century for our future generations to get a glimpse of, so that is the crux of my assignment for you! 

YOUR ASSIGNMENT FOR THE WEEK: 
*Please do a LO (size of your choice), which can be single or double paged. 
*Please use a photo, or set of photos, from the 20th Century (the more detailed the better) If you already scrapped all your photos from the 90’s, find an image from the internet that you’d like to document.

I found an older photo of our first Pit, Bandit.  Photo was from 1995 in our first house, and it was just Mark, myself and Bandit, and boy was she a spoiled little girl.

Here is my Home Ec assignment:
Alright students, Mrs. Carr here for Home Ec today!! Get your supplies ready because today we will be "cooking up" some creativity  Below is a list of must-have ingredients for today's class. Your assignment is to create a single or double page layout including the following "recipe": 

* fabric 
* ribbon 
* a stick pin or safety pin 
* thread, floss, or twine 

I scrapped the boys at the jump rope for Heart event for School and Heart Awareness Day.  I used a fabric flower with a heart brad,red ribbon on the banner, safety pin attached with another heart brad (upper right corner) and twine to look like a jump rope Michael was swinging.  The boys had so much fun that day.

I am here today to help you whip those sports related photos that are just laying around in boxes, or are just wasting space on your memory cards, into lean mean scrapping memories!

Today for PE your assignment is: 

*Do a LO in your size of choice, either double or single paged
*Please use sports "related" photos. This can mean directly, or indirectly. Memories of a sports party, trip to your college or high school to watch your alma mater play, meeting up with a high school teammate or coach. Any of those things count as well.
*Please use any memorabilia you may have saved from the event. Tickets, party decoration, spirit wear are the kinds of things I am thinking about.
*Try to use your team colors prominently in your work.

And those are the requirements ladies...deal with them! ;) (remember, I am Sue, not Kathy).

I used slip and slide photos of the kids in the backyard...they just crack me up with the things they used to do.   I used a bunch of swap pieces for the elements

Homework assignment #3: So your assignment for today is to create a layout using a back to school or any school related photo. Here are some more ideas

This was probably my favorite event the school did.  They recreated Immigration Day for the kids.  They all dressed as their ancestors did when they came to America.  Pillowcases instead of suitcases.  They had the hallway in the school be the boat, and had the children do learning activities while they waited to enter the great hall (ok the gym) of Clark Mills School, where they went thru processing, answering questions about their heritage as they went from station to station.  After processing they sat and played cards and waited for their loved ones (classmates) to be processed.  As a group they promised to be a good American and then they celebrated with food brought in from their different heritages.  The day was long, but so glad I got to go and see my two participate in this wonderful event.

A challenge given today for FTS on facebook.  September we will be going back to school, today was English class.  Our assignment was to: -Make a layout in the size of your choice 
-Incorporate a speech bubble(s) for your title and/or journaling 
-Use colorful paper/embellishments to match the playfulness of speech bubbles

You get extra credit if you use your speech bubbles to quote someone in your photo, like in the example.

If you don't have speech bubble stamps, die-cuts or a cutting machine to make some you can either free-hand some or download a free printable speech bubble. 

Fun challenge, not so much fun going to the ER with Michael for his wrestling injury.
